• Served as Lead Visual Designer for the on-screen display of the HERO4 Session Camera
• Developed the animation/motion style guide for the touch display on the HERO4 Silver camera
• Worked with a team of artists across multiple platforms on the company’s global design initiative
• Created animated prototypes to demonstrate synchronization of on-screen graphics and transitions with camera LEDs and sounds
• Created interactive prototypes which were incorporated into user research studies
• Regularly made presentations to CEO and senior executives
• Served as a mentor to junior visual designers and production staff
Let’s be honest here: this is a tiny screen we’re talking about here.
96 pixels wide × 24 pixels tall, to be exact. Pure black and white, no color, not even any grays. The HERO4 Session camera proved to be a very unique challenge for me as a visual designer who had just come from Disney Interactive.
But I stuck with it, and after more than a year of hand-drawing letters, numbers, and icons with a 1-pixel pencil tool in Photoshop, I had the opportunity to take on some interaction design for the mini camera’s successor.
